Puzzlemaniak v0.2 for iPhone, iPod touch: more games to play

Homebrew developer Alex has released Puzzlemaniak v0.2 for the iPhone and iPod touch. Unlike version 0.1, which only carried three games, this new version comes with 17 different games, meaning more opportunities for fun for the puzzle maniacs out there.

Griffin Powerdock charges multiple iPods

Griffin has introduced a new, and very cool, dock for your iPods. The new PowerDock is capable of charging up to 4 iPods at once. If you have multiple iPods this is the solution for you. The dock is limited to charging the iPods at this time.

iPhones unlocked at rate of 27%

According to a report from Brighthand, 27% of the iPhones sold last year are unlocked and running on a provider other than AT&T. Brighthand says that according to Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi, approximately 1 million of the smartphones sold by Apple in the U.S. last year were bought by people who haven't signed up for an AT&T plan.

Apple iPod and iPhone leading gadgets in Europe this Christmas

According to a study designed to track the frequency of online searches, Apple's iPod and iPhones are among the hottest gadgets in Europe this Christmas season. The study focued on 20 different models of gadgets from game consoles, mobile phones, and portable music player markets across the UK, France, and Germany.

iPhone integrated in Land Rover LRX concept

Land Rover's LRX Concept has something very interesting -- iPhone integration. As you can see in the picture the Land Rover has a slot for the iPhone to be docked. You can presume that the iPhone can be used hands free but the really interesting part of this integration is the large red "Start" button on the iPhone. The concept is that the car will actually be started via the iPhone. Cool.

Apple announces iPhone SDK

We've all been waiting for it and it looks like it will finally be a reality -- third party applications on the iPhone. Steve Jobs just announced that Apple will release the iPhone SDK in February 2008. Third party applications that work on the iPhone will also work on the iPod Touch. Check out the letter from Jobs posted on Apple's web site today:

Apple sued over iPhone bricking

Apple has been sued by California resident Timothy Smith alleging that the iPhone maker violated the state's antitrust law. Many users who had purchased an unsupported unlocking software for Apple's iPhone were upset when a recent Apple update "bricked" their iPhone. Mr. Smith decided to take his case to court.

iPhone Pros and Cons

This is simply our short list of pros and cons for the iPhone. The iPhone is a huge leap forward in the right direction for mobile devices, but it is lacking in some key areas. We'll wait for the next version before we toss out our Treos, BlackBerrys, and Pocket PC Phones.

3G iPhone coming next year?

According to an unconfirmed report on TheStreet.com, Apple is expected to launch a 3G iPhone sometime next year. The new 3G iPhone is expected to include global positioning for navigation services. Apple has declined to comment on the report.

iPhone, iPod Touch now has access to BBC's iPlayer

The British Broadcasting Corporation, known far and away simply as the BBC, has recently launched its iPlayer service for use with the iPhone and iPod Touch. The iPlayer is a service from the BBC that streams on-demand video content to compatible devices with an internet connection. The "internet connection" requisite is actually why it took so long to become a portable service.
